Synopsis

Ma Na Wei lives with his grandma in Lanyu. His greatest hope is to be reunited
with his father who works in Taiwan. His teacher, Yu Zhong-Xun, sees the
National Aboriginal Dance Competition as a chance to be transferred back to
Taiwan. As Yu trains the students, he discovers Ma's talent. However, there is a
big obstacle: the children don't want to wear their traditional thongs on stage.
由年迈祖母带大的达悟族男孩马那卫，一直盼望在台湾谋生的父亲能回到兰屿伴他成长。年轻老师游仲勋从大都市被分发到离岛，他一心希望争取记功调回台湾。这个夏天，学校将到高雄参加全国原住民舞蹈大赛，仲勋自告奋勇担任指导老师，马那卫则想趁机飞到台湾给父亲惊喜。过程中，仲勋为了让孩子找回达悟族的骄傲与勇气，心境开始有了转变。马那卫终于如愿踏上台湾本岛，但这趟旅程却和他想象的不同。 资深纪录片导演崔永徽首次拍摄剧情长片，取材自颜子矞老师与兰屿椰油国小生的故事，耗时六年完成。除了主演的黄尚禾，更在当地训练大量达悟族素人演员，透过兰屿男孩的成长故事，为今日在离岛谋生不易的达悟族道出心声。
