Synopsis
Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham (transl. Marakkar: The Lion of the Arabian Sea) is the most expensive film ever made in Malayalam  produced by Antony Perumbavoor and directed by legendary director Priyadarshan. The film’s technical team, comprises of the “best in the country” technicians - production design by veteran art director Sabu Cyril (Bahubali, Krrish3, RRR,  Enthiran etc) and cinematography by Tirru.

The film is based on the battle exploits of Kunjali Marakkar IV—the naval chieftain of the Zamorin of Calicut. Kunjali Marakkars organised the first naval defence of the Indian coast by safeguarding Calicut from Portuguese invasion for almost a century. The film revolves around him who was also the first Indian Naval Commander and Indian freedom fighter for the war against the Portuguese. He is said to have won 16 such battles with his impeccable strategies and fighting skills. 

The film stars the complete actor Mohanlal in the lead role as Kunjali Marakkar. Also the film has Pranav Mohanlal,  Keerthy Suresh,  Suniel Shetty,  Prabhu,  Arjun Sarja, Max Cavenham,  Manju Warrier,  Suhasini Maniratnam,  Kalyani Priyadarshan, Sudeep,  Ashok Selvan,  Suman, Nedumudi Venu,  Innocent, Fazil,  Antony Perumbavoor,  Ganesh Kumar,  Mukesh, Mamukkoya,  Siddique,  Renji Panicker,  Komal Sharma, Jay J. Jakkrit, Toby Sauerback etc. playing pivotal roles. The movie won 3 National Awards including - Best feature film , Best Special Effects & Best Costume. The movie has also won 3 state awards.
