When it comes to maintaining youth, Michelle Yim is definitely one to look up to. With over 30 years of experience in showbiz, Yim not only maintained her figure, she looked radiant even after celebrating her 58th birthday in September.
During the interview, she shared that she only eats proper and the ‘best’ meals. “What I mean by best - (food with) less calories like tofu, green vegetables, fish. The body is yours, and you have to protect it,” she explained.
This year, Yim is nominated for two awards for the StarHub TVB Awards, namely ‘My Favourite TVB Actress’ and ‘My Favourite TVB Female TV Character’ for her role as Cixi in The Confidant.
Besides being happy for her nomination, Yim was glad that The Confidant is nominated in this year’s award show. “The cast and crew put a lot of effort in this production. I remember filming it from a very hot weather to a super cold weather. It was tough for the cast to remember our lines and act in thick costumes too,” she recalled.
Actress Tavia Yeung shared the same sentiments when asked about her thoughts on the nominations. She said: “As artistes, we will be happy if we are nominated and will be great if we are awarded, but be it any award, these gives us a boost of confidence and certainty in what we do.”
Yeung was awarded Best Actress at the 45th TVB Anniversary Awards Ceremony for her outstanding performance in Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles <名媛望族>. Asked if she is confident in winning the same title for the upcoming StarHub TVB Awards, the actress answered with a smile: “I think I stand a chance?”
“I spent a lot of time and effort in this role, and because my character is a dao-ma-dan (Chinese opera) singer, a lot of time was spent on perfecting the moves. If I can win it (Best Actress) again, it will be a great motivation for myself,” she added.
In the drama, Yeung plays a famous Peking Opera dao-ma-dan singer known by the stage name Sai Fenghuang, who eventually becomes Sir Arthur’s (Damian Lau) fourth wife.
“The hardest part for me in this show was playing Sai Fenghuang. It was my first time playing a Peking Opera actress and during that time of filming, I was very sick, so each action for me was rather difficult. I’m glad I overcame it.”
Also nominated for ‘My Favourite TVB On-Screen Couple’ with Kenneth Ma for Three Kingdoms RPG, Yeung agreed working with Ma had always been fun and enjoyable. “There are many male actors who are quite compatible but if I have to choose, perhaps Kenneth Ma, because we have worked together for many projects and we just wrapped for The Hippocratic Crush 2,” the 34-year-old actress said.
