If you're a fan of crime-thriller shows, Thrill's upcoming Korean drama 'Cheo Yong: The Paranormal Detective' is bound to keep you at the edge of your seats!

Find out more about the show and characters after the jump with our email interview with Oh Ji-Ho and Jun Hyo-Seong (from Kpop group Secret)!

Award-winning actor Oh Ji-Ho plays the titular character Detective Yoon Cheo-Yong, who was born with a supernatural ability to see and hear ghosts. He solves mysterious cases with female detective Ha Sun-Woo (Oh Ji-Eun) and female high school student ghost Han Na-Young (Jun Hyo-Seong).

Cheo Yong: The Paranormal Detective premieres first and exclusively on Thrill (StarHub Cable TV Channel 618 and SingTel mioTV Channel 415) starting 20 March (every Thursday) at 10pm.

InCinemas: Could you tell us more about your character in Cheo Yong: The Paranormal Detective?

Ji-Ho: I play the role of a detective who has a special ability to see ghosts to solve cases

Hyo-Seong: Na-young is very brave and bright. She roams around the police station the whole day but since she’s a ghost nobody can see her or hear her. But still she doesn’t lose heart or get disappointed. She walks around freely. She watches her unrequited love.

InCinemas: How would you describe your character in the drama?

Ji-Ho: He’s a little rough but he has his soft side.

Hyo-Seong: Na-young is very brave and bright. She roams around the police station the whole day but since she’s a ghost nobody can see her or hear her. But still she doesn’t lose heart or get disappointed. She walks around freely. She watches her unrequited love.

InCinemas: In what ways are you similar to your character Han Na-Young and what are some of the challenges you faced?

Hyo-Seong: I think I can relate to that optimistic side of her. She’s sometimes clumsy and awkward but soon she focuses on the circumstances and wants justice done. I can very much relate to her personality.

Usually when you’re acting, you look at and talk to your partner. But since I’m a ghost I had to take into account that the other actors can’t see me. It would have been easier if I could interact with other actors while acting. It felt like I was talking to the wall so I had a hard time getting used to it. But thanks to the help of the director and other actors, I soon got used to it and found it quite funny. I think the other actors had a harder time trying to pretend not to see me or hear me while they were acting.

InCinemas: As an established actor who is in the industry for a long period of time, how does Cheo Yong: The Paranormal Detective challenged you as an actor?

Ji-Ho: Every actor must invest a lot of time to get into their character. I always try my best to be as real as possible.

InCinemas: How did you prepare for your role and where did you get your inspiration from?

Hyo-Seong: My role in the series is a ghost so it’s a different approach in acting. I thought watching many ghost movies will help me express the subtle details of the ghost character. So I’ve been watching many movies and mystery series to have some reference.

InCinemas: This is your first major project as an actress, what were your feelings then when you received the news?

Hyo-Seong: At first, I felt a lot of pressure because I had no professional training in acting and I thought my acting had to be very good since it’s a traditional play. But after I read the script, I felt Han Na-young, my role in the series, was quite similar to me. She has a charming personality so I got to like her more. That made me want to take that role so I joined the team after going through the official audition. It’s my first time acting so I know I’ll need to work harder in some areas. I wanted the role very much so I thought I’ll learn and work hard to perform the best I can.

InCinemas: What were the reactions of your members when they heard you took on a drama alongside Oh Ji-Ho & Oh Ji-Eun?

Hyo-Seong: My teammates have been watching my performance through the whole shooting period. They gave me their objective opinions and tried to help me with my lines and acting. They had other busy schedules but they never missed one episode of the series. When they couldn’t see it when it was being aired, they’d watch it through video on demand to monitor my performance. I put all my effort in this work and my teammates supported me as fervent viewers of the series. I thank them very much for helping me promote it as well.

The girls loved to see me wearing the school uniform. They said I did a good job acting the cute high school ghost.

InCinemas: You’ve came to Singapore last year for a concert, what about Singapore that you remembered the most?

Hyo-Seong: I loved the clean city of Singapore and its beautiful nature. But since we had a concert there, Singapore became more meaningful to us. I was very impressed and I still remember how fervently the fans screamed and reacted to our performances. I hope we’ll get another chance to perform in Singapore and meet our fans there. We’d love to meet our Singaporeans fans one by one through a Fan Meeting event.

InCinemas: It seemed like the viewers in Korea enjoyed the show when it aired a few weeks ago, what do you think is the appeal of this drama that attracts people the most?

Ji-Ho: I think they like the new and unique theme about solving cases with a ghost.

InCinemas: Tell us why we should catch Cheo Yong: The Paranormal Detective?

Ji-Ho: There are quite a lot of action scenes and the audience will like the new and unique theme of the show about solving cases with a ghost.

Hyo-Seong: “Cheo Yong: The Paranormal Detective” isn’t just one more Korean drama. It was made by the movie channel OCN and it took very long and meticulous work to create it. That’s why we’re proud to present it as a successful and unique detective series. The story itself is very well-woven. But it’s also very interesting and fun to see step by step how the charming ghost Na-young tries to help solve other mysterious cases. You will feel moved and have fun while also enjoying the thrill through this series. So I’m sure our Singaporean fans will love to watch it.
