Introducing Aziatix, the new pop band which may make you go aziADDICT after hearing their latest EP. Since its release, Aziatix has been rising on the iTunes charts, placing it in the top 10 on the "soul" and "R&B" charts in the US and Europe (Picture as of 21st May). It is quite a feat considering that Aziatix is a fresh band in the market and was announced just this March 2011.

Here's a short teaser to get a feel of their talents. And within 30 seconds you can decide if you wish to find out more of Aziatix!

So how do you find their teaser music video? =D

The band includes Nicky Lee, Eddie Shin and Flowsik, all of whom are talented solo artistes on their own with different music background. Nicky Lee, a top vocalist who has achieved great success in the Mandarin music scene and also a member of the Taiwanese Hip hop group MACHI; Flowsik is a rapper, songwriter, and producer from Queens, New York and is recognized as "one of the best rappers" by Jae Chong; and Eddie Shin, a singer-songwriter whose musical talents have been recognized through sophisticated R&B music starting with his first album Just My Way in 2005.

And Jae Chong, being an established producer, writer and former member of Korea's first R&B Band Solid, gathered the three talents with different music backgrounds to form Aziatix, in hope to break the language barriers and create a front for Asian-Americans in Hollywood and Asia. He is also critically acclaimed for his work with many Asian Artistes like Coco Lee, Vanness Wu, BoA, Kim Gun Mo, JYJ, Jolin Tsai, Elva Hsiao and many more!

Last Friday evening (27 May), InCinemas is honoured to join the round-table session with Aziatix at Park Regis Hotel and have a first look at the Aziatix members. The mood is easy and funny at times during the sharing. The members told us that they had a great time working together in the studio and they also have this inside jokes and personal quotes that were funny to them. One of them is making the noise "Phiew Phiew Phiew" while as though holding a microphone when one of the members happened to say something lame or funny. And not long after Flowsik finishes his words, Nicky casts the "Phiews" and laughter fills the entire room.

When asked about their first impression of one another, here's what they have to say.
Flowsik: When I first saw Nicky I thought he was a very tough guy but he is a genuine, kind-hearted and talented [guy]. I met Eddie through basketball, he was actually very good in basketball, I was very proud. Later I know how talented he is in music as well and the chemistry just went naturally.

Nicky: We all met through our producer Jae Chong. When I first met Flowsik, I think I talked to him more through the phone [before meeting him], I was like, yo, this guy must be 7 foot and like 355 pounds because his voices is so deep and he has that voice. When I first met Eddie, I was like woah! This brother is one good looking brother and the ladies going to love him. And I was right!

Eddie: I thought Nicky was a boxer when I first saw him. For Flow, his voice just carries a different frequency as anyone else. When he talks in Korean, he sounds funny. He got different kind of vibe when he speaks in different language. Highly entertaining.

Previously they have been on a solo career so with regards to any changes when forming this band, Nicky replied, "Performing together has a different kind of vibe while performing solo tends to get lonely at times. Beginning we may have to get used to three of us on-stage and taking note of the stage placement but it's all smooth out now."

The combination of the band is able to cover for their weakness. One would have noticed that when dealing with publicity in different countries, a particular member would have appeared heading the group. For example, in New York, Flow would take charge, while in Korea, it would be Eddie, and in Taiwan, Nicky would speak up when required to respond in Mandarin.

Nicky comments, "It's always nice because my Korean is not up to par. That's when eddie steps up and use his fluent Korean. New York, Flow was born and raised in new york so he's perfect for that. Later in Taiwan and other places and if need to speak Mandarin and I'll pull up my not up to par mandarin and do my best."

"We all make up for certain weak points and all together, it's unified and very strong." Flowsik adds and also expressed his interest to learn Chinese Language. With that, Nicky introduces Flowsik with a few words like 'Hello', 'I Love You' and 'You're beautiful' in Mandarin.

And at 10:30pm at Clarke Quay Beer Market, we get to witness their performance live! We've also noticed a number of fans taking the opportunity to take pictures Flowsik when he was on his way to join with the other members in the block-off area. The crowd goes wild when Aziatix takes over the stage and many danced along to the rhythmic beats of their music. You can tell that the three members of Aziatix have a lot of chemistry, in terms of their singings and stage presentation.

During their last song 'Go', something interesting happened. Nicky took one of the fans' video camera and pictured himself while continue singing the song. Probably encouraged by our Singapore fans, Nicky made the fans go wild as he did that. And the clip below is from the point of view of the camera taken by Nicky. It takes place somewhere in the 1:40min mark. Enjoy =)

It is notable that good music can influence one and even inspires us in many ways. We should probably pay special attention to the new band, Aziatix, as like what Nicky had put it earlier in the press conference, "We come from different music background and influences. When we start making music together, it's a different creative, energy."

The first track “Go” is a friendly melody that mixes the East Coast and West Coast styles, containing the desire for true love and escape from the lover’s pressures.  It contains Aziatix’s message to move on past the present to a future full of dreams.

--

The second track “Cold” is the title song for this album.  It is an R&B/pop tune with a "throw back" feel of the club music of the 80s mixed with the sounds of today.  The lyrics describe a man caught in a dishonest relationship.  He talks about a woman who is acting shady behind his back.  sHe calls her "Cold" to describe how she's treating him.

--

The third track “What U Know About Us” is a rap song by Flowsik featuring the smooth R&B vocals of Nicky Lee.  It's a radio/club friendly tune with a classic "rags to riches" story.  Flowsik raps about his day-to-day struggles growing up as an Asian-American and his pursuit of success.

--

Eddie Shin’s silky R&B voice and Flowk’s rap are matched exquisitely on the fourth track “Another Day.”  It is an R&B/pop dance tune with a hint of K-pop feel.  The lyrics describe a person reminiscing about a love that's gone with hopes of it coming back one day.

--

“Start It Again,” the fifth track, is electro/pop dance tune with a club appeal. The song is about a man trying to convince his former lover for another chance to "start again".
