The film is adapted from Patricia Highsmith's novel 'The Price of Salt', which tells a story of a lesbian romance in the 1950s. Blanchett stars as the titular role of Carol, a socialite who falls in love with a department store shop girl, Therese Belivet (Mara).
It premiered at the Cannes Film festival in May where the film was elected to compete for the Palme d’Or. Carol received rave reviews and had many talking about it, predicting it to be a front contender for the awards season.
Joining Blanchett and Mara are Kyle Chandler as Harge Aird, Carol's husband, Sarah Paulson as Abby Gerhard, Jake Lacy as Richard, Cory Michael Smith as Tommy, Carrie Brownstein as Genevieve Cantrell and Kevin Crowley as Fred Haymes.
And yes, it will be showing in Singapore, but we can't be certain that the film will be released without cuts.
