By Flora / 20 Jun 2016 (Monday)
The rising Russian-born actor, Anton Yelchin, best known for his roles in "Star Trek" and "Alpha Dog," was killed early Sunday morning after getting pinned by his own car.
Yelchin starred as Chekov in the Star Trek reboot movies, including 2009's Star Trek and 2013's Star Trek Into Darkness. Yelchin had completed his role in Star Trek Beyond (opens InCinemas July 21), which is in the final editing stages.
It was reported that Yelchin's friends became alarmed because he was supposed to meet them hours earlier for a rehearsal. They went to his San Fernando Valley home at around 1 AM and found him pinned between his car and a brick mailbox pillar, which was attached to a security gate. Cops do not suspect foul play.
Director of Star Trek, JJ Abrams, posted a photo of a heart-wrenching handwritten note via the Instagram account of his production company, Bad Robot.
RIP.
