The Joyden Hall opens at Iluma, and announces the Chinese Theatre Festival!

By InCinemas  /  28 Jun 2011 (Tuesday)
InCinemas attended the Soft Preview of The Joyden Hall yesterday morning (27 Jun, Monday) at Iluma level 7 and witnessed the approximately 9 metres in height and 10,000 sq ft Multi-Purpose Performance Hall.

“Named The Joyden Hall (“欣艺坊”) to reflect its founding philosophy of creating a space in which all forms of art and culture can be nurtured and appreciated, The Joyden Hall aims to be a platform to nurture and develop strategic dialogue and exchange on Asian Arts Development in reference to Singapore and its neighbouring countries”, says Ms Minli Han, Venue Manager of The Joyden Hall.

Interestingly, we learnt that theatre-in-the-round, auditorium, class-room and even banquet settings are some of the possible configurations within the space. And depending on the configurations, The Joyden Hall can hold from 400 to a maximum of 550 persons!

For more information on The Joyden Hall, you can visit its official website at:

In conjunction with its opening, The Joyden Hall is pleased to announce the launch of the inaugural Chinese Theatre Festival with The Theatre Practice of Singapore, in which The Joyden Hall is both Presenting and Venue Sponsor.

This Festival presents fresh collaborations and works between performing groups from Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan, some of which will be performed as community performances at Public spaces within the Mall, further stimulating interaction between the shoppers, public and the performers, and to break down conventional perceptions of performance spaces and shopping Malls in Singapore. Tickets will start on sale from 2 July 2011 at SISTICS! Other than the ticketed programmes, there is also dialogue and outreached activities planned for the public!

Stay tuned at InCinemas as we will be bringing you more detailed information on the programmes the Chinese Theatre Festival has for you! Cheers!
