By Flora / 14 Mar 2017 (Tuesday)
The first-ever animated Godzilla adaptation is heading to streaming network giant, Netflix!
Titled ‘Godzilla’, the original Japanese animation is based on the Godzilla character, which will have its exclusive premiere on Netflix worldwide following a Toho theatrical release in Japan.
To bring to life Godzilla’s epic adaptation is none other than Japan’s largest film distributor Toho, and leading Japanese anime studio Polygon Pictures to produce the actual production. Directors include Kobun Shizuno (Knights of Sidonia, Detective Conan), and Hiroyuki Seshita (AJIN: Demi-Human, BLAME!) with a screenplay from acclaimed anime writer Gen Urobuchi (Psycho-Pass, Madoka Magika).
“We’re looking forward to bringing a spectacular entertainment experience for both existing fans of Godzilla and people new to the franchise”, said Godzilla director, Kobun Shibuno.

Netflix has also revealed the star-studded voice cast who will be bringing the film to life: Yuki Kaji (Attack on Titan), Takahiro Sakurai (AJIN: Demi-Human), Tomokazu Sugita (Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker), Junichi Suwabe (Nodame Cantabile), Kana Hanazawa (BLAME!) and Mamoru Miyano (AJIN: Demi-Human).
The release date of 'Godzilla' has yet to be announced. Stay tuned to InCinemas for updates!
Fans of the Kaiju are in for a treat. Apart from the aforementioned animated series, Hollywood production Godzilla 2, the sequel to Gareth Edward’s 2014 film, is slated to open InCinemas in June 2018; its Godzilla will then face off with King Kong (the said Kong from Kong: Skull Island) in a monster battle epic in 2020.
