Flying Through Time into Resorts World Sentosa
By Edric / 27 Oct 2017 (Friday)
From the team behind CHEF: Bibimbap vs Chilli Crab, and the director Choi Chul Ki of NANTA and JUMP comes another exhilarating and energetic “sport-formance” comedic production at Resort World Sentosa (RWS) this festive season.
This December comes acclaimed director Choi Chul Ki’s Flying Through Time, an RWS’s original theatrical extravaganza produced in collaboration with leading South Korean product company – Persona Inc. First in Singapore, Flying Through Time stars hot local celebrities – Joshua Tan and Melody Low, as well as an international cast from China, Malaysia, Mongolia, South Korea and Taiwan including ex-national athletes and sportspeople. Audiences will be treated to an ensemble of energetic sports choreography and uproarious comedy.
Packed with eye-popping stunts, comedy, romance drama, and a wining dose of local flavor, Flying Through Time depicts a timeless tale of good triumphing over evil and how lover conquers all.
The story follows noble warrior, Tiger, who traversed time and space from ancient Korea to modern Singapore, to reclaim the Great Magic Rod, a mythical relic of immense power, from the villainous Dark X who also caused the death of Tiger’s sweetheart, Melly. The fate of mankind rests on Tiger who pursued Dark X into the time warp, landing in the MerTiger Academy on Singapore’s Sentosa Island where they met the school’s cheerleading team. Tiger Foils Dark X’s attempt to transform all the cheerleaders into monsters using the Great Magic Rod before Dark X made his escape. Romance then ensues between Tiger and a cheerleading girl who gradually sheds her weight to reveal a growing resemblance to Melly. What will become of this time-travel love story? Will Dark X wreck more havoc in modern day?
Flying Through Time also marks the first ever collaboration between RWS, Nanyang Polytechnic and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, where the two local teriary institutions will create new theatrical elements set to suprise and captivate audiences.
Three alumni members of Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts partnered RWS to develop a range of elaborate costumes for all 13 characters, sceneic facade add-ons and the inspiring logo for MerTiger Academy, the setting in modern Singapore as featured in Flying Through Time. Students at Nanyang Polytechnic will be assisting RWS to animate a 30 seconds video that will be screened during the show, inspired by the architecture of Korea and Singapore.
Flying Through Time is set for a captivating family event, only at Resorts World Theatre from 9 December 2017 (Saturday) to 21 January 2018 (Sunday) for a total of 36 shows.
