Amazon to produce new The Lord of the Rings series.

Can't get enough of Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings, you might be in luck. Amazon has announced it has acquired the rights to The Lord of the Rings, based J.R.R. Tolkien epic novels on Middle Earth. The upcoming Amazon Prime Original will be produced by Amazon Studios in cooperation with the Tolkien Estate and Trust, Harper Collins and New Line Cinema - a division of Warner Bros. Entertainment.
Sharon Tal Yguado, Head of Scripted Series at Amazon Studios has said "The Lord of the Rings is a cultural phenomenon that has captured the imagination of generations of fans through literature and the big screen."
The television adaption will return to Middle Earth and explore new storylines preceding J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Ring. The deal includes a potential additional spin-off series. The television adaption is slated to debut exclusively on Prime Video.
