2017 MAMA in Japan: Award Winners and Performances

Eye-catching global collaboration performances by AKB48(Japan) and Chung Ha, Weki Meki, Pristin, Fromis_9(Korea) and more
CJ E&M yesterday awarded the ‘2017 MAMA in Japan’ at Yokohama Arena to recognize Asian artists for their best achievements and contributions in the music industry. In coherence to this year’s theme of ‘Coexistence,’ hottest artists from different Asian countries joined together to celebrate diversity of pan-Asian music at Asia’s biggest music awards ceremony.
A total of twelve awards, including the highly acclaimed Qoo10 Song of the Year, were presented along with Best New Female/Male Artist, Best Asian Style in Japan, Inspired Achievement, Best of Next, Best Dance Performance Female/Male Group, Best Concert Performer, Discovery of the Year, Mwave Global Fan’s Choice, and Best Male Artist. In addition to the star-studded presenters and nominees, fans cheered as their favorite artists showcased special collaboration performances exclusive for ‘2017 MAMA’.
The sold-out show opened with a legendary collaboration stage with BoA, and rising stars Seventeen, TWICE, and Wanna One’s Hwang Min-Hyun. This year’s theme ‘Coexistence’ also presented itself on stage, as AKB48, one of the most followed Japanese idol girl groups, and Korea’s representative female artists Chung Ha, Weki Meki, Pristin, Formis_9 and Idol School members performed hit songs including ‘Pick Me,’ ‘Heavy Rotation, ‘Koisuru Fortune Cookie’, capturing the hearts of Asian fans.
In addition, Monsta X, Zico, Wanna One, EXO-CBX also engaged with their fans with their one-of-a-kind performances, while Seventeen and NU’EST W surprised fans with a collaboration stage of their own.

Meanwhile, ‘2017 MAMA in Japan’ was broadcasted in 14 different regions and platforms including Mnet, Mnet Japan, tvN Asia, and global fans in more than 180 countries/regions can enjoy MAMA via Mwave. Following the journey from Vietnam on November 25th and Japan on November 29th, ‘2017 MAMA’ will make its final stop to Hong Kong on December 1st at AsianWorld-Expo, Arena.
