It will follow, to quote Jon Favreau's Instagram post, "a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic."

Jon Favreau, the director behind 'Iron Man 1 and 2', is writing and executive producing the first episode, with Dave Filoni (director of the animated 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars') attached to direct.

Other directors of the series include Deborah Chow (director of 'Jessica Jones'), Rick Famuyiwa ('Dope'), actress-turned-director Bryce Dallas Howard ('Solemates'), and Taika Waititi ('Thor: Ragnarok').

Pedro Pascal of 'Game of Thrones' and 'Narcos' fame will star as the main lead.

MMA fighter Gina Carano ('Deadpool') has also joined the series.

'The Mandalorian' is expected to premiere on the Disney streaming service, Disney+.
