Musical movies to catch this month

Musical movies seem to be dominating our screens these years, from big productions like Bohemian Rhapsody, Rocketman, and Disney classics like Aladdin and The Lion King, which both films crossed the $1 billion mark at the box office. This August, check out these movies with a music element - from legendary The Beatles to Pavarotti!


Fisherman’s Friends (1 Aug)

Director: Chris Foggin
Cast: Tuppence Middleton, James Purefoy, Jade Anouka



Inspired by a true story, Fisherman’s Friends tells the heartwarming tale of a Cornish all-male group that goes from singing sea shanties to shooting up the charts. Taken by their performances, music manager vows to turn this crew into the world’s oldest buoy band, he finds more than a good record deal.


Bring the Soul: The Movie (7 Aug)

One of the world’s hottest boyband, BTS, is brings their landmark ‘Love Yourself’ tour to cinema screens in Bring The Soul: The Movie! Get a glimpse into BTS’ world away from the stage, featuring intimate group discussions alongside spectacular concert performances from the tour, this is a cinematic event not to be missed.

Imagine waking up one day to realise that the entire world has not heard of the greatest band of the century, The Beatles, except for yourself. For a struggling singer-songwriter like Jack, he chose, you guessed it, option C! Of course, his fame and fortune come with a big responsibility and a price to pay. 


Blinded By The Light (15 Aug)

Set in the 1980s amidst the racial and economic turmoil in England, a young Pakistani, Javed, was introduced to the music of Bruce Springsteen, seeing the parallels to his working-class life in the powerful lyrics. Javed discovers a cathartic outlet for his own pent-up dreams, he also begins to find the courage to express himself in his own unique voice.


Pavarotti (22 Aug)

Cast:Luciano Pavarotti, José Carreras, Plácido Domingo, Bono, Lang Lang, Nicoletta Mantovani
