A 'Home Alone' reboot is on its way with ‘JoJo Rabbit’ breakout star Archie Yates

Home Alone is and always will remain a holiday movie loved by the masses. It tells a story about a young boy who was accidentally left to fend for himself and protect his house from robbers while his family is abroad.

Disney has announced its main star, Jojo Rabbit’s breakout actor, Archie Yates who will be starring alongside Ellie Kemper and Rob Delaney. Dan Mazer (Dirty Grandpa) will direct the film from a script by Saturday Night Live writers Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell.

Not everyone is happy with a remake. When Disney first announced a reboot of ‘Home Alone’ for its streaming platform Disney+, fans - and even Macaulay Culkin himself - had a lot of say about rebooting the Christmas classic. While some fans aired their grievances online, some lauded the studios' casting decision.

Yates is said to play another character, similar to Kevin McCallister. The new story, according to sources, sees Kemper and Delaney play a wife and husband who, in order to save their home from financial ruin, go to war with a kid who has stolen a priceless heirloom. Hutch Parker and Dan Wilson are producing the tyke-skewing feature, which is due to shoot in early 2020 in Canada.
