MINDS Film Festival to hold free outdoor screenings this weekend

The MINDS Film Festival returns for its 4th edition, from 15 January till 10 January 2020 at Shaw Theatres Lido. 

Organised by MINDS and Singapore Film Society (SFS), the festival will be screening a total of six films from all over the world, ranging from an Italian drama to a Korean crime-mystery. The lineup also includes two Asian premieres and two Singapore premieres. 


FREE Outdoor Screenings
Bringing the festival to the heartlands, moviegoers young and old will be able to enjoy free outdoor screenings at Tampines and Yishun, of the movie ‘Redha’, a touching tale of a family working together to raise a child with autism.
Redha (Malay with English and Chinese subtitles | Drama | Rating PG) has won many hearts and awards since its release in 2016, including Best Actor and Best Child Actor at the Malaysian Film Festival.

• 10 Jan 2020 (Fri), 7.30pm at Our Tampines Hub, The Central Plaza

Screening 2:
• 11 Jan 2020 (Sat), 4pm at Tzu Chi Humanistic Youth Centre, The Great Hall


Opening Film: The Peanut Butter Falcon 
Opening the film festival on 15 January 2019 is The Peanut Butter Falcon (2019), winner of the Audience Award for Narrative Spotlight in SXSW Film Festival 2019.



The Peanut Butter Falcon tells the story of Zak (Zack Gottsagen), a young man with Down syndrome, who runs away from a residential nursing home to follow his dream of attending a professional wrestling school. With unlikely allies, Tyler (Shia LaBeouf), an outlaw on the run, and a nursing home employee Eleanor (Dakota Johnson), Zak embarks on a journey to become a professional wrestler.


Special Rates for DDR-ID Cardholders 
All MINDS Film Festival screenings will be free for people with a Developmental Disability Registry Identity (DDR-ID) card! To give access to families of persons with special needs the opportunity to enjoy and be inspired by the messages of inclusivity and empowerment in the curated list of films, DDR-ID card holders will also be able to bring up to two caregivers with them, who will enjoy 50% off the usual ticket price.
