Disney’s Aladdin 2 is happening

Disney is moving forward with a sequel to last year’s live-action remake of Aladdin, and has hired a pair of writers to pen the script that will be an original story.
According to Variety, Flight’s John Gatins and Straight Outta Compton’s Andrea Berloff will write the follow-up, one that is not based on any of the animated sequels.
The live-action remake that starred Naomi Scott as Jasmine, Mena Massoud as Aladdin and Will Smith as the Genie grossed $1 billion worldwide when it released in 2019. There is no word whether or not Guy Ritchie will return to direct, as with if the cast members will return to reprise their roles.
