Tom and Jerry’s Director, Gene Deitch, Passed At The Age Of 95

By Chen Shun  /  21 Apr 2020 (Tuesday)

Tom and Jerry director Gene Deitch has passed away at the age of 95. It has been reported that the Oscar-winning illustrator died on Thursday night at his apartment in Prague. His Czech publisher, Petr Himmel, confirmed the news to The Associated Press where he explained that star died ‘unexpectedly.'

For the kids today, this was the logo of the channel.

In the not so distant past, many of us were waiting for Tom and Jerry to air on Kids Central. For the newer kids on the block, Kids Central was the golden channel hailing from Mediacorp and it exclusively showed children-targeted shows.

While the great director himself isn’t around anymore, his spirit will always be with his creations like Tom and Jerry & Popeye. Many also took it to social media to expressed their condolences to his passing.

Gene Deitch will remain as a legendary animator in our hearts forever. InCinemas is saddened by the loss of Gene Ditch and our thoughts and prayers are with their family during this difficult time.
