Zendaya makes Emmy history!

By Rachelle  /  21 Sep 2020 (Monday)

Zendaya is officially an Emmy winner!

The 24-year-old actress pulled off a hard feat by emerging victorious amongst her fellow nominees that included Oscar winner Olivia Colman, past year winner Jodie Comer and Jennifer Aniston who was the favourite choice to win this year.

Zendaya took home the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal of Rue Bennett on HBO's breakout series Euphoria, breaking the record for becoming the youngest person ever to win the statuette in this category! The record was previously held by Comer for her performance in Killing Eve, at age 26.

This win also makes the young actress the second Black woman to win in this category following Viola Davis who had previously won in 2015 for her performance as Annalise Keating in How to Get Away with Murder.
Zendaya will return to the big screen in Denis Villeneuve's Dune, opening in cinemas this December 17.
