MediaCorp Raintree Pictures to produce Chinese New Year movie Dance Dance Dragon.


Welcome the year of the Dragon with MediaCorp Raintree Pictures’ Chinese New Year family movie Dance Dance Dragon!

With a budget of 1.2 million, Dance Dance Dragon stars local stars Kym Ng, Adrian Pang, Dennis Chew and Malaysian artiste Auntie Lai Ming and Melvin Sia. The film is penned by Kelvin Tong and Marcus Chin, and marks Kat Goh’s directorial debut. Director Kat Goh says, "Since young, I have always enjoyed Chinese New Year films as they are festive occasions when the entire family bonds in a cinema. To have Dance Dance Dragon - a Chinese New Year movie - as my debut film therefore comes as an absolute delight for me. I can't wait to bring my parents to the cinema this coming Chinese New Year."

Managing Director of Raintree Pictures, Mr Man Shu Sum says, “Raintree Pictures intends to present a heart-warming film during the Chinese festive season each year, where families get together to enjoy and cherish these special moments. We are on a constant lookout for budding talents to have a stake in our collaborations.”

Shoot will commence in November and be done entirely in Singapore. Movie will be distributed by Cathay Keris Film and is slated to screen from mid January 2012. 

Packed with hilarious twists and turns, Dance Dance Dragon is a wholesome family comedy aimed at the funny bone during Chinese New Year 2012.

[Short Movie Synopsis]
Dragon is a mystical creature and revered by the Chinese; as one of the 12 Chinese Zodiac, the Year of the Dragon represents prosperity. Dance Dance Dragon tells the story of Mother Loong who desires to have a grandchild. However, none of her three children have plans for any children. Things change for the Loongs on the first day of the 2012 Year of the Dragon when a newborn boy is found on their doorstep!
