Universal shifts its movies' release dates.. again.

By Rachelle  /  05 Mar 2021 (Friday)

Universal has shifted the theatrical release dates for its much delayed titan tentpoles F9 and Illumination’s Minions the Rise of Gru

The Fast and Furious sequel F9 will forego its previously announced May release date and will premiere on June 25 instead. This is the third time the franchise's latest installment has seen a shift in its release and there's no saying that this will be its last. With this new date, F9 will face off with Sony Pictures' Venom: Let There Be Carnage.

Universal has already dropped two trailers for the movie so far. By the rate their going, we're hoping they won't just release the whole movie via trailers alone. Here's one just for measure to tide us over:

Minions 2 on the other hand will now open in July 2022 instead of this year. The animated movie is the sequel to the spin-off prequel Minions (2015) and the fifth installment overall in the Despicable Me franchise. It is directed by Kyle Balda, with Brad Ableson and Jonathan del Val, starring the voices of Pierre Coffin as the Minions and Steve Carell as Gru, along with Taraji P. Henson, Michelle Yeoh, RZA, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Lucy Lawless, Dolph Lundgren, Danny Trejo, Russell Brand, Julie Andrews, and Alan Arkin.

They made their cheeky announcement via social media. Check it out below:
