10 Movie Facts That'll Blow Your Mind!

When we watch movies, there are a number of things that we tend to overlook. There are a lot of details viewers don't pick up on their first viewing and will probably only notice after watching the movie a few more times.

Here are some interesting facts about your favourite movies you probably didn't know:

1) Did you know that in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, the chocolate river as a matter of fact is real?

The river itself was made up of 150,000 gallons of water, genuine chocolate, and cream, which was a drawback. Because of this, it ended up smelling awful at the end of the filming.

2) Isla Fisher nearly drowned in front of the entire cast and crew during filming a scene with an underwater magic trick in Now You See Me. Everyone assumed she was just putting on an act!

Fisher's character was chained and submerged in a tank of water in the sequence. Her restraints were equipped with quick-release magnetic chains, allowing her to flee quickly. But according to her, "the chain that went between my legs couldn't be broken, and it got stuck." Fisher said the crew didn't catch on right away because "everyone just thought I was doing fabulous acting." How absolutely terrifying!

3) Joaquin Phoenix lost weight for the role of Arthur Fleck in Joker.

Joaquin Phoenix sought advice from the same doctor who assisted him in losing weight for his role in The Master. He shed 24 kilograms for the role of the Joker, then immediately gained 11 kilograms once filming ended.

4) In Call Me By Your Name, Timothee Chalamet wore an earpiece while shooting the fireplace scene so he could listen and react to the song that was played in the actual movie.

Chalamet mentioned in the DVD commentary that he had an earpiece in his right ear that was eventually CGI'd out. He said playing what the music made him feel was "a little bit like an acting exercise to be playing what the music is making you feel," which helped him mimic the scene's structure. Sufjan Stevens' "Visions of Gideon" was the tune he was listening to.

5) In Toy Story, Buzz Lightyear's name was almost Lunar Larry.

Can you imagine a supposedly "tough character" named, Lunar Larry? I certainly cannot picture it.

6) Did you know that there were 10,297 balloons in the movie, UP?

Yes, you read that right – 10,297 balloons! Now we know how many balloons we'll need to make our dreams of living in the 'flying house' a reality..

8) In It: Chapter Two, a record 5,000 gallons of fake blood (the most for any movie ever!) was used to shoot that iconic bathroom scene.

Jessica Chastain had to bathe in a kiddie pool of artificial blood to get the shot just right, which she described as "freezing."

9) Viggo Mortensen actually broke a toe in one of the scenes in The Lord of The Rings.

There's a scene in The Two Towers where Mortensen's character Aragorn kicks a helmet and immediately screams in anguish while falling to his knees. He may have fooled you into thinking that was a perfectly delivered performance for his art but in actual fact, the actor was legitimately reacting to the actual pain from the kick.

10) Did you know that the entire cast and crew of Titanic were poisoned?

The entire cast and crew were poisoned with PCP-laced clam chowder during a celebratory meal midway through filming Titanic. No one knows who was responsible to this day.
