Award-Winning Malaysian Film 'Tiger Stripes' Is Roaring Into Netflix this February!

By InCinemas  /  18 Jan 2024 (Thursday)

From Cannes to your screen, the award-winning film Tiger Stripes is coming to Netflix on 15 February!

Helmed by Amanda Nell Eu in her directorial debut, Tiger Stripes premiered at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Critics’ Week Grand Prize. The coming-of-age body horror film was also selected as Malaysia’s entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 96th Academy Awards.

Newcomer Zafreen Zairizal plays 12-year-old Zaffan, who is a rebellious and carefree girl until she starts to experience horrifying physical changes to her body. Struggling to maintain being normal at school, Zaffan is in denial of her inevitable changes and tries to cover herself.

However, when mass hysteria spreads across the school, Zaffan finds herself ostracised by her friends while a visiting Medical Officer makes it his mission to drive away the demon that is rumoured to be haunting the girls. As the situation escalates, Zaffan — like a tiger who has been dragged out of its habitat and poked at — decides to finally reveal her true self, her wrath, rage and her beauty, to everyone.

Tiger Stripes also stars Deena Ezral, Piqa, Shaheizy Sam, June Lojong, Khairunazwan Rodz, and Fatimah Abu Bakar.

Tiger Stripes will be released globally on Netflix on 15 February.
