With Annie, There’s Hope tomorrow!

By InCinemas  /  20 Jul 2012 (Friday)
Never thought I would actually find myself trying to laugh raucously like the kids in Annie, one of the best loved musical direct from the UK, currently (and thankfully) showing in Singapore’s Sand Theatres @ Marina Bay Sands till 5 August 2012.

Ahh-hahahah.. You would probably do the same after watching "Annie, the Musical", because the kids’ spectacular performance and their ability to laugh without a care in the world simply lift your mood up and convince you that laughing the way they did makes you forgot all the hardships you face in life!

Oh, and these kids playing the roles of the orphans were actually auditioned right here in Singapore. Aside from our red-haired protagonist (Annie - played by Ella Crossland), there’s also this cute-as-button little girl as Molly who is bound to catch the eyes of the audience and gather cheers whenever she appears, as she adorably moves about the stage and mimics the voice of their horrible orphanage mistress, Miss Hannigan (played by veteran Su Pollard). The key characters include David McAlister as Oliver "Daddy" Warbucks and Simone Craddock as Grace Farrell, Warbucks secretary.

Watch the clip below that features the orphans’ performance of “It’s a Hard-Knock Life”.

Impressive? This is only one of the many lovely songs in the musical! There’s also the legendary “Tomorrow” with a catchy melody and lyrics to which the audience would hum and sing along to!
  • “Tomorrow! Tomorrow! I love ya Tomorrow! You're always a day away!”
Besides, its soundtracks is available on sale exclusively at HMV for S$19.90! There's an ongoing promotion which ends on 24th July where consumers stand to win a pair of tickets* to watch 'Annie'!

After years of the hard-knock life at New York City’s Municipal Orphanage, 11-year old Annie decides to search for her parents who left her with nothing but half a silver locket. Hopes arrives when Annie is invited to the wealthy Oliver Warbucks’ mansion for Christmas. She quickly forms a deep connection with Warbucks whom, after knowing her hopes of searching her real parents, offers a reward to any couple who can prove to be Annie’s parents. Can Annie finally find her parents after 11 years of longing?

"Annie, the Musical" features 20 songs and performances. There's Act One with 8 scenes, following by a short break of approximately 20 minutes, before continuing with 6 scenes in Act Two. Oh, bring along a binoculars if you wish to see the cast up close.

Annie’s light-hearted and heart-warming story together with the enjoyable musical performance sets a high expectation and makes you more receptive to other upcoming musicals.

Also find out what some Celebrities like Zoe Tay and Gurmit Singh have to say after watching "Annie, the Musical".
