First to Dim Sum, then to the Movies!

By InCinemas  /  03 May 2013 (Friday)
Truly the best of both worlds!

Combining Singaporeans’ two favourite pastimes, food and movies, now you can feast on your favourite dim sum at The Cathay Restaurant then head over to the movies just a few floors above thereafter!

Food is something we all can’t live without and while some of us eat to live, most of us live to eat. Singaporeans’ love for Dim Sum can now be satiated at The Cathay Restaurant with its new dim sum menu during dinner hours between 6pm and 10pm, from Monday to Thursday.

Some of the more popular dishes are available for the dinner spread, such as the steamed BBQ pork bun, the steamed fresh prawn dumpling and the sliced fish porridge. Besides savouring the small bite-sized delicacies, The Cathay Restaurant also serves up a range of main dishes to fill the hungry stomachs such as soups, noodles and other Chinese cuisine. Here are some of our picks on the dim sum dinner menu you can consider!

Steamed Siew Mai with Crab Roe ($6.20)

Steamed Siew Mai has always been a crowd favourite, with its chewy and juicy interior, filled with bits of prawn and crab meat. The ones served at The Cathay Restaurant are as good, with tender prawn fillings laid on top, enticing one with its vivid colours and its gentle crinkled skin.

Steamed Fresh Prawn Dumpling ($6.60)

Another one of Singapore’s adored dim sum dish, the Steamed Fresh Prawn Dumpling, widely known as ‘har gow’, is usually a ‘must try’ for most diners. I felt the skin of this dish was a tad dry to my liking, but the prawn inside was tender and juicy.

Sliced Fish Porridge ($10.00)

For the porridge lovers, you will love this bowl of Sliced Fish Porridge for its smooth texture with generous slices of steamed fish will bound to brighten up your evening!

Pan Fried Carrot Cake with Chinese Sausages ($4.50)

The carrot cake has a slight crisp on the outside, and soft chewy ‘cake’ on the inside. The chinese sausages blended really well with the overall taste that led to a pleasurable touch to the palette.

Steamed Yolk Cream Bun ($4.20)

It’s a pity the steamed buns are only served during lunch, but I believe the deep fried ones will also satisfy one’s craving for the silky, creamy yolk inside is flavourful and rich in texture.

(Iron Man 3 - Now Showing)

When you are satisfied with your dinner, how about a trip (we’re talking a few floors above) to the movies? You can watch films from your favourite actors and your desired movie genre! With such a stellar lineup of movie titles this May and June, there’s nothing better to spend a day with good food and a gratifying movie experience!

(Identity Thief - Now Showing)

If you’re into rom-com, then you should not miss Identity Thief, by Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy, and the Korean comedy, My Phone Sex Partner, starring the beloved Ji Sung and Kim A-Joong. For the die-hard action devotees, Olympus Has Fallen is the movie you should be paying to watch plus, not forgetting the upcoming Fast & Furious 6 opening in theatres soon.

(Monsters University - Opens 20 June 2013)

For the younger audience, fret not as the little cute (but supposedly scary) monsters are back with Monsters University, and from the creators of Ice Age and Rio, comes a fantasy-adventure animation, Epic, opening 30th May!

Now, aren't these the best of both worlds?
