Sequel to 2018's L Storm, also the fourth film in the series, P Storm continues its story with Louis Koo (古天乐) starring as Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) agent William Luk. This time, he goes on an unprecedented undercover mission in the prison. He is determined to identify the black sheep of the Hong Kong Correctional Services (HKCS), who accepted bribes from prisoner Cao Yuen Yuen, a wealthy second-gen portrayed by Raymond Lam (林峯).
The Good
The cast of P Storm is probably a good enough reason for you to catch the movie. With Louis Koo as protagonist and Raymond Lam as antagonist, they are joined with Kevin Cheng (郑嘉颖) as Luk's ICAC partner, Patrick Tam (谭耀文) as the prison's corrupted superintendent, and special appearance from Julian Cheung (张智霖) as Joint Financial Intelligence Unit (JFIU) officer, a friend of Luk's. Gordon Lam (林家栋) also reprised his role from 2014's Z Storm as ex-superintendent Wong Man Ban, who was put in prison by Luk.
The storyline is typical of undercover missions but made entertaining with Luk's fellow cell mate Wong Lam Luk, portrayed by Louis Cheung (张继聪). His comical antics added a fair bit of humour to the show, such as his theory on why youngsters should aim to go to jail. Ridiculously yet undeniably, it makes sense as the prison provides you a roof over your head, food to eat and even medical attention for free - it is quite a sum you can save on!
The (Not That) Bad
Rated at PG13 with Some Violence, P Storm is a suitable movie for some family time. That being said, while the action scenes are not bad, it still feels like some scenes lack the punch, such as the one with the cockroaches. Some parts of the story are also not properly explained, especially with the escape scenes.
