When Sophie discovers hidden cameras in her apartment she uses her tech savviness to locate where the surveillance operation is set. My Spy is a good movie to catch if you are finding something light to laugh your way through but if you expecting great a great storyline or superb acting, you might just want to pass on this movie.

When you think of Dave Bautista (most know for his role as Drax the Destroyer in Guardian of the Galaxy) you would link him to action or mafia related movies due to his background as an ex-MMA fighter. Even though he tried to break out of that mould, his acting throughout the movie only reminded me of one thing, DRAX. From the way he portrays himself as the character, JJ, to his speech and even the action scenes looked as if he was reprising the role of Drax again minus the makeup.

There was one thing I didn’t understand or you can even call it a major loophole in the movie. It doesn’t make sense for CIA agents to be in the palms of a 9-year-old girl. Sophie Newton(acted by Chloe Coleman) is given to JJ as the technical support for their surveillance mission but as someone recruited by the CIA, she can’t even hack a little girl’s phone?

Going back to Sophie Newton, I feel that she was the one character that made me genuinely laugh throughout the movie. Even though she was a supporting cast, she honestly was a scene stealer for me when she appeared.

Overall, My Spy will be the kind of movie you can choose on a date night or family day. With its light-hearted theme it will be perfect for a day when you just want to laugh your hearts out.
