Synopsis
Anak Pontianak produced in 1958 is a famous horror film with a subtle touch of superstition.
It tells a story of a woman named Manis screaming in pain one night while giving birth to her twins. Sensing her imminent death, she instructs her husband to do one last thing, to pull out a nail that has been stuck at the back of her neck for years.
What comes after was a surprising transformation much to her husband’s disbelief before she “died”.
Years passed with one of the surviving twins, Petir growing up to be strong with an occasional display of an aggressive behaviour. Ten years later, he falls in love with a beautiful village girl, much to the dismay of an elderly scientist, Dr Sulong who had the same feelings for Halimah.
How would the ending be for Petir and Halimah? Will Petir be able to keep his characteristics a deep dark secret or will he also transform into a “creature” to protect the love of his life? And will Manis who “came back to life”, be able to protect her son?
