A big scale, small stakes affair.

Strap in, folks – Pedro Pascal and his adorable green child take to the silver screens for the first time since they captured our hearts in The Mandalorian (2019).
The Star Wars franchise makes a splashing return to the big screen with The Mandalorian and Grogu, directed by Jon Favreau, who co-wrote the film with Dave Filoni and Noah Kloor. Pascal returns as The Mandalorian aka Mando, alongside Jeremy Allen White and Sigourney Weaver.
Unlike the big ensembles of past Star Wars films, The Mandalorian and Grogu play to their strengths by focusing on its namesakes. The core success factors of the series – the coolness of Pascal’s Mandalorian bounty hunter and and the cuteness of his little green companion – remain the driving force here. Don’t expect to see many series comrades or familiar faces here but fans can look forward to some exciting character appearances/cameos.
After the fall of the Galactic Empire, Mando and Grogu are sent on a mission to rescue Rotta the Hutt (White) by the New Republic. A mission that serves as the catalyst that precedes the rest of the events in the film.
The stakes may not seem as high or dire but that doesn’t make the film any less exciting. There’s still plenty action both on ground and in the skies that’ll keep you entertained. And if that is not enough, the film retains the humour and light-heartedness when it comes to the fan-favourite Grogu. The little green creature has his own side quest in this side quest of a film for an impactful showcase of his capabilities. He may just be a babbling baby but he’s proven more than able to survive on his own if/when Mando should no longer be around to provide and protect.
The Mandalorian and Grogu is a departure from its regular series affair, which works in its favour to appease both fans as well new audiences. It is nothing like the usual Star Wars fare you’d be used to seeing on the big screen. Should this be the way? It sure works, so why not.
