Synopsis
Auteur Bille August, a film-making icon and recipient of the Palme d'Or, the Academy Award and a Golden Globe, draws on writer Henrik Pontoppidan’s influential coming-of-age Danish novel Lykke Per (re-issued as A Fortunate Man) to present this enthralling historical drama. In the late 19th century, Per Sidenius, an ambitious young man from a devout family in Western Denmark rebels against his father and travels to Danish capital Copenhagen to study engineering.
