Synopsis
With the Philippine government waging an all-out war on drugs, the Manila police force prepares a sting to arrest Abel, one of the biggest drug lords in the city. Key to the operation are mercenary police officer Espino and his informant Elijah, a small-time drug pusher and trusted associate of Abel. As the SWAT team descends upon the slums, the situation quickly escalates into a violent confrontation between the police and Abel’s gang. Within the chaos, before investigators arrive at the scene, Espino and Elijah hastily snatch a backpack full of money and methamphetamines—starting a chain of events that put their reputations, families and lives on the line. Alpha, The Right to Kill won the Special Jury Prize at San Sebastian International Film Festival 2018.
