Synopsis
A decade ago, connected with Tolstoy's novel "Resurrection", a medical school graduate and a young steel worker became pen pals and spiritual friends. Triggered by love and hate in their real life, they plotted to commit two murder cases and then drifted apart. A young police officer investigated the case but no suspects were found. A decade later, the medical school graduate is already a well-known surgeon. He gets married to the one he loves and they have a daughter. The steel worker comes back to the city with his disabled girlfriend. Meanwhile, the police officer still can’t let go of the unsolved cases. In the ten years, people’s spiritual outlook has significant changes and they are sinking into the abyss of desire. Deeply suffering from morality, the worker tracks down the surgeon and the surgeon certainly feels the threat to his happy life. The intimate partners, at this moment, are against each other just like class antagonism. They meet again, with the ashes of their spiritual world burning again. Redemption, or destruction; survival, or death. They will receive their own destiny from their own choice. This is a movie about class, morality and beauty.
