Synopsis
Singapura Di-Langgar Todak is a legendary folklore produced in 1961. It tells a story of religious leader, Tun Jana Khatib and his 2 followers who came to Singapore from Pasai to trade. However, due to the rivalry between the Temenggong and the King’s aide, Tun Jana Khatib was slandered. He was sentenced to death and the King’s aide sentenced to life imprisonment. One night, several fishermen were killed when a school of swordfish started attacking from shore. At the coast of Singapore, with his courtiers, the King was grazed by a swordfish. The Temenggong instructed that the villagers be used as human shields against the attack. A young boy, Hang Nadim who also happens to be the son of the King’s aide suggested that banana tree trunks be used instead. When the idea worked in fending off the swordfish attack, the King was so pleased that he decided to reward Hang Nadim. On the day when Hang Nadim were to receive his reward, he also asked that his father be released which the King agreed to. The occasion did not go well with the Temenggong who have been envious of the King’s aide from the very beginning. He instigated the King against Hang Nadim. Will the King be consumed by the incitement and what will the fate of Hang Nadim be?
