Synopsis
Why was Elsa born with magical powers? The answer is calling her and threatening her kingdom. Together with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven, she'll set out on a dangerous but remarkable journey. In “Frozen”, Elsa feared her powers were too much for the world. In “Frozen 2”, she must hope they are enough.

It begins. The Arendelle sisters Elsa and Anna, together with Kristoff and goofy snowman Olaf are back in another adventure. Nothing is going to be better than the 2012’s Frozen - there, I called it - but this is a worthy adventure to explore.
Six years since its previous outing, Frozen 2 is a more matured film that deals with darker themes and self-actualisation, without giving away its core value of sisterhood. Elsa (Idina Menzel) never has or needs a boyfriend, and still, be able to rule Arendelle - a welcoming shift from Disney princess movies we’ve seen in the past few years. Same with Anna (Kristen Bell), even though she has Kristoff by her side where she seeks comfort and stability, Anna supports her sister in every way she can.
It all starts with a childhood sequence - Elsa and Anna’s parents tell them about the history of the enchanted forest and the magic behind it. Cut to the present, Elsa can’t seem to shake off a melody that only she can hear - a lullaby that seems to be calling out to her. Elsa is determined to head North and find out about the voice as well as restore peace and order to Arendelle. The gang follows and stepped inside to the mystical enchanted forest. There, they learn about their parents, their heritage and the answer to the happenings in Arendelle. Elsa carries on in her journey to find out about the ringing voice and learns something new about herself.
Frozen 2 definitely upped its game with the story, music and animation. Even the characters like Olaf and Kristoff had more screen time and solo songs! Olaf (Josh Gad) takes the cake as the film’s ultimate endearing goofball. Every kid loves Olaf, judging from the reaction of the children in my cinema hall.
“Let it Go” was a crazy worldwide hit of the decade and perhaps no other Disney song can top it (at this point), not even its own successor. Having said that, this time we get to here more ballads from not only Idina Menzel, but Kristen Bell - who has a greater and more powerful character arc - and Jonathan Groff, who in real life, is a Broadway musical star with a beautiful voice.
