Not to be missed, 'Parasite', a tense socio-political thriller, is one of Korean director Bong Joon-ho's best films.

The first Korean film to win the Palme d’Or, ‘Parasite’, director Bong Joon-ho’s 7th film, follows a down-and-out family of four, comprising the head of the household, Kim Ki-taek (Song Kang-ho), his wife Chung Sook, his son Ki-woo (Choi Woo-shik), and youngest daughter Ki-jung. They live in a cramped subterranean basement and are unable to afford even wifi, resorting to leaching their neighbours’ wifi.

Following a tip from his friend, Ki-soo manages to bluff his way to get himself hired as the private tutor to the daughter of a rich CEO Mr. Park (Lee Sun-kyun) and his wife Yeon-kyo (Cho Yeo-jeong), who live in a massive wood-and-glass modernist house. One by one, the Kim family slowly take over the jobs at Park’s household, with Ki-taek as Park’s chauffeur, Chung Sook as the new housekeeper and Ki-jung as an art therapist for Park’s PTSD-suffering youngest son.

The Kim family’s fortunes seem to be on an upturn until their ruse is discovered by former housekeeper Moon-gwang. The plot veers in unexpected directions and takes surprising twists, always keeping us at the edge of our seats.

Featuring standout performances from the whole ensemble as well as expertly juggling different genre elements from dark comedy to thriller, ‘Parasite’ is Bong’s new masterpiece.
