David Bowie was an artist unafraid to go against the grain of mainstream. His creativity knew no bounds as is apparent in the work he put out in the world, cementing himself as one of the most prolific figures to this day.

For a man who astounded millions for decades in his lifetime, documentary filmmaker Brett Morgen had a mammoth task of delivering a film that equates the brilliance of Bowie. His approach in avoiding the usual trappings of a music biopic with Moonage Daydream redefines the genre, much like the man in question himself did with his image in music back in his day.

Of course the film would subtract any controversial plots in Bowie’s life, seeing as it is the first and only officially authorized work by the artist's estate, but that shouldn’t matter as Moonage Daydream is a celebratory piece of the legend himself, as told in a non-linear collage of moments throughout Bowie’s career. In addition to live concert and unreleased footages from Bowie’s archives, you can expect a brilliant display of visuals that accompany his eclectic music.

Moonage Daydream is a visceral audiovisual that succeeds in becoming not only a fitting homage to its subject but a documentary that set a precedent for all future music documentaries. You don’t have to be a Bowie fan to love this dazzling spectacle.
