Some stories are timeless for a reason. More than 2,000 years after Homer's The Odyssey was first told, Christopher Nolan takes on one of history's most influential epics, transforming the legendary tale into a thrilling cinematic adventure packed with breathtaking spectacle, heart-pounding suspense and unforgettable set pieces. Grand in scale, relentless in its pacing and breathtaking in its execution, The Odyssey is a cinematic experience that reminds audiences why some stories are best experienced on the biggest screen possible.

Following the Trojan War, Odysseus, King of Ithaca, embarks on a perilous journey home to reunite with his wife Penelope and son Telemachus. What should have been a straightforward voyage soon becomes a years-long battle against mythical creatures, unforgiving seas and the wrath of the gods, with every obstacle standing between him and the home he's determined to return to.

Directed and written by Christopher Nolan, the film stars Matt Damon as Odysseus alongside Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong'o, Charlize Theron and Jon Bernthal.

While The Odyssey delivers all the spectacle audiences have come to expect from Christopher Nolan, it's at its strongest when it slows down. Beneath the mythical creatures and breathtaking action lies an intimate portrait of a man burdened by war, time and the longing to return home. Matt Damon delivers a compelling performance as Odysseus, balancing the resilience of a legendary warrior with the quiet vulnerability of someone who has spent years fighting simply for another chance to see his family.

The filmmaking is equally impressive. Rather than leaning heavily on CGI, Nolan favours practical effects and real locations wherever possible, giving every storm, sprawling landscape and battle an incredible sense of scale and authenticity. Combined with Hoyte van Hoytema's stunning cinematography and Ludwig Göransson's haunting, emotionally charged score, the result is an immersive cinematic experience that constantly keeps audiences on edge.
