It's Passion over Expectations for Director Randy Ang for His Film 're:solve'!

Touted as the first action crime thriller to be produced in Singapore, re:solve features an ensemble cast from Taiwan and Singapore, showcasing a series of daring armed heists and unrelated murders.

With such an impressive tag to the film, there’s no surprise audiences will be expecting something dramatic and explosive from it. Director Randy Ang leaves it to the audience to decide.

“Really, after a film is done, it’s in the hands of the audience”, said Ang in a press conference at Santa Grand Hotel Lai Chun Yuen yesterday.

“I’ve always liked watching police-crime thrillers from young and wondered why there were no films on it. It’s really not easy!”

When asked if he felt the pressure of being the ‘first action crime thriller’, Ang sad: “I have to embrace it. We didn’t think too much about it when we first started, we just have the passion to make a film like this.”

Simulating a fierce fight scene that requires blowing up containers and firing bullets is no easy feat, especially when it comes to finding an ideal location in Singapore. Though turned away by many people and presented with many ‘Nos’ during the filming process, Ang stood firm on his requirement; to use real guns and bullets.

re:solve also marks Ang’s first directorial feature film to which executive producer Jimmy Wong praised him for his effort. “Randy did a fantastic, excellent, impeccable job! When I first watched it at the production house, I was thinking ‘are you sure it’s Randy’s first time? He’s like a veteran’”, quipped Wong, who is also one of the region’s most renowned FOREX traders.

Gathering two of Taiwan’s upcoming stars Chris Lee and Mico Chang to play the leads, Ang explained that he wanted fresh faces for the film and felt they were suitable to play the roles.

Model-actress Chang who also makes her movie debut in re:solve describes Ang as a director with high expectations. She said: “He gives the actors the freedom to express ourselves but fine-tune the details to his vision thereafter, which is really good.”

Directed and written by Randy Ang, re:solve stars Chris Lee, Yuan Shuai, Mico Chang, Sunny Pang, Pamelyn Chee, Jimmy Wong, Zheng Ge Ping, Zhu Huoren, and opens InCinemas 27 February 2014!
