After five years of courtship, local songbird Stefanie Sun finally married her boyfriend Nadim Van Der Ros in a traditional wedding yesterday (May 8). The couple also hosted a wedding banquet at the six-star Capella Hotel in Sentosa.

Due to the scorching warm weather enveloping Singapore the past few days, Nadim left a message via Twitter right before the wedding:"Not a good day to be in the heat. Good day to get married though."

Stefanie's wedding followed local wedding customs and saw Nadim arriving at the Suns' house at 10am in an 8m-long Lotus Limos limousine, which had the car plate number "1888".

While there were about 10 reporters on the scene, Stefanie had six bodyguards around to maintain order.

When the groom arrived with his six best men, they were stopped at the door by Stefanie's six bridesmaids, who took red packets from the men. The latter also made the men play music, perform a lion dance following by downing sour, sweet, bitter and spicy drinks before giving them the green light to pass through the door.

It was another round of tests when Nadim entered the house. He was requested to performed difficult yoga poses and had to sing Stefanie's favourite song, 'Hey Jude' before he was finally allowed to see his bride.

Stefanie was decked in a simple, white bridal gown, which emphasised her low-key and sincere personality. The only accessory -- which stole the limelight -- was the wedding ring on her ring finger.

The newlyweds then travelled to a hotel to offer tea to Nadim's parents before returning to Stefanie's house, where she changed into a red traditional bridal gown, to offer tea to the bride's parents in the afternoon.

At 6pm that night, Stefanie and Nadim said their vows, with Stefanie's father's friend as their witness.

Decked in a white, laced wedding gown designed by the singer herself, the newlyweds exchanged wedding rings. Nadim was never seen without a smile on his face the entire time and Stefanie had to restrain herself from tearing. The groom kissed his bride twice, before Stefanie kissed him back.

The wedding banquet started at about 7.30pm, after a cocktail party. A total of 37 tables were set up. Good friend Jolin Tsai, who was in Singapore the previous day for her concert, also stayed another day for Stefanie's wedding.

During the banquet, Stefanie and Nadim also shared a cute and touching duet, which the talented singer had specially written for the wedding.

It is reported that Nadim had relocated from Hong Kong to live with his missus in Singapore.
