* Actress comforted by Grint, film's producer
A GLITTERING Emma Watson has broken down at the world premiere of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part II.
With hundreds of Potter fans camped out for days in London's Trafalgar Square to secure a prime spot, the films’ trio of stars arrived for their final walk up the red carpet together.
Watson looked stunning, wearing a fairytale floor length tiered Oscar De La Renta ruffled gown, and happily grinned and posed for the cameras.
But, it wasn’t long before the emotion of the event hit the 21-year-old who started sobbing when her co-stars Rupert Grint and Daniel Radcliffe thanked the movies’ legion of fans.
At one stage an emotional Watson clung to her on-screen love interest Grint, while at another point the film’s producer David Heyman offered the tearful actress a comforting hug.
Saying goodbye to Hermione is “devastating”
Watson, who first played Harry's sidekick Hermione Granger as a nine-year-old, said the character had become like a sister to her during the filming of the eight movies.
"She feels so real to me," Watson told News Limited, "I will miss being her. It's devastating. She has pushed me and made me a better person."
Watson also dished on her romantic scenes with both Daniel Radcliffe, as Harry Potter, and Rupert Grint, who plays Ron Weasley, saying they were "equally awkward".
"Kissing Harry ... was a figment of Ron's imagination, of the worst possible things he could ever imagine, so the kiss had to be passionate. I was half naked and covered in paint, so that was pretty awkward," she said.
Of Hermione's romance with Ron Weasley, she said: "It's obviously hard to put our personal history to one side, considering that we did grow up together.
"I don't think they mind me saying that, you know, if you have done it sort of four or five times, kissing gets quite boring. Genuinely."
With the final instalment having its official worldwide opening on July 15, to date the Potter franchise has reaped just over $2 billion for its distributor, Warner Bros, with the eighth and final movie projected to pull in a further $300 million.
