The Emoji Movie's Official Trailer is Finally Here

By InCinemas  /  17 May 2017 (Wednesday)

Following a teaser that came out last December, Sony Pictures just released the official trailer of The Emoji Movie, featuring T.J. Miller as Gene the 'meh' emoji, Anna Faris as Jailbreak, James Corden as Hi-5, and most excitingly, Sir Patrick Steward as the poop emoji. Check out the trailer below:

The trailer gives us the first look at Textopolis - "the secret world inside your phone" - where the emojis live as they wait to be selected by the phone's owner. Our protagonist - Gene the 'meh' emoji - happens to have multiple emotions and facial expressions, unlike other emojis each of whom is assigned only one. Gene's failure to stick to just one face has a disastrous consequence as Alex decides to wipe out everything on his phone. To prevent Textopolis from being destroyed, Gene has to leave the city and sets out on an adventure together with his best friends Hi-5 and Jailbreak. Along the journey, the three have to go through various apps including Candy Crush and Just Dance as they run away from the bots chasing after them. Of course, the movie does not forget to include the most exciting thing anyone can do on their phone: watching cat videos on Youtube.

The movie comes out in 3D on 10 August.
