The popular Nickelodeon animated series, Dora the Explorer is getting a live-action remake, with Isabela Moner as the beloved character, and Eva Longoria as the mother of the title character.
Dora the Explorer aired for 172 episodes from 2000 - 2014, about a young American Latina along with her monkey, Boots, faces riddles and obstacles as she went on quests. While the animated series focuses on Dora’s adventures outdoors, the movie will pick up with the heroine as a teen, about to enter high school. Moner, best known for last year's Transformers: The Last Knight, was cast in May to play a teenage version of the Nickelodeon character.
James Bobin, who directed the 2011 reboot ‘The Muppets’ will be directing this feature, with a script by him and Nick Stoller. The film also stars Eugenio Derbez, Nicholas Coombe and Madeleine Madden.
The film is currently shooting in Australia and is set to premiere InCinemas August 2019.
