Attend San Diego Comic-Con at Home for FREE!

By Rachelle  /  11 Jun 2020 (Thursday)

The San Diego Comic-Con was recently canceled for the first time ever in 50 years due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. However, Comic-Con has revealed they will now move the convention online! The virtual replacement for the annual event, dubbed Comic-Con@Home, will be free for everyone with no limits on how many can attend from July 22-26.

Comic-Con@Home was first teased on Comic-Con International's official YouTube page back in early May.

If you’ve ever been to San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC), you know it’s always a challenge to attend the more popular panels, with thousands camping outside overnight to ensure they’ll get a seat inside. Or if you've never been and have always dreamed of attending but have never had the chance to, that won’t be an issue this year since the entire con will be taking place online!

According to Comic-Con, the online version of SDCC will have an Exhibit Hall complete with everyone’s favorite exhibitors offering promotions, specials, and limited-edition products unique to the celebration. In addition, they will also have a Masquerade, gaming, and many other activities in which fans can participate from their own homes.

SDCC spokesperson David Glanzer said,

For the first time in our 50-year history, we are happy to welcome virtually anyone from around the globe. Though stay-at-home conditions makes this a very difficult time, we see this as an opportunity to spread some joy and strengthen our sense of community.

Exact details on the online convention are not yet known for the types of panels in the works and how fans will be able to participate online. Additional details will be provided in announcements leading up to the event. Watch this space!
