Golden Horse winner Yeo Yann Yann and filmmaker Ler Jiyuan flew the Singapore flag high as national winners in their respective categories at the Asian Academy Creative Awards (AAA) 2020 for HBO Asia’s Invisible Stories.

Yeo Yann Yann’s AAA national win comes at the heels of her International Emmy® Awards nomination for the same series.

In Invisible Stories, Yann Yann plays Lian, a burnt out and financially-drained single mother struggling to cope with her 19-year-old son (played by Devin Pan) with autism, who displays aggressive behaviours during meltdowns following the sudden death of his grandmother, who was his main caregiver.
The six-part half-hour drama series was filmed entirely on location in Singapore. Select episodes from the series were featured at the 2019 Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival and the Singapore International Film Festival.

‘Invisible Stories’, together with three other HBO Asia Originals - Food Lore, The Garden of Evening Mists and Workers, collectively won nine national awards at the AAA. The AAA national winners, which honours creative excellence, were announced on 15 October 2020. All national winners will go on to the regional grand finals of the AAA in December as part of the Singapore Media Festival. Please see below for the details of HBO Asia Originals national winners.
