The Chinese-American pop icon and musical singer Fei Xiang 费翔 (a.k.a. Kris Phillips) sheds his idol image, taking up the role of an evil wizard in the PAINTED SKIN: THE RESURRECTION, the sequel to Gordon Chan’s Painted Skin (2008). Would you have been able to identify the actor just by looking at the photo?

According to various reports, it was mentioned that the greatest motivation for taking up the role is to tell his beloved audience that “he has always wanted to be an actor, not an idol”.

Fei Xiang reveals that he has fulfilled his dream to be a great actor in 2 key areas. First, being able to present the wizard which doesn't resemble himself at all and leaving a deep impression on the others. Secondly, it is to gain the recognition from the director (Wu Er Shan) and his fellow colleagues that his portrayal of the evil wizard is convincing and so frightening that it takes their breath away at times.

You might have heard some unknown language in the trailer. That is the biggest challenge Fei Xiang faced, having to speak in Ancient Sanskrit which he has to learn and memorize by heart.

"The director request that the people of the Heavenly Wolf Kingdom to speak in Ancient Sanskrit and he doesn't want us to fake the language. Hence, he got us a professional to coach us and my script was translated to Ancient Sanskrit.” says Who. “Before the shooting begun, I was still memorizing it because it sounds like a stranger talking. But later, I realize that I can be very focused on expressing the language as though speaking it in Mandarin and English. The entire process is an unique and refreshing experience for me.”

PAINTED SKIN 2: THE RESURRECTION is slated to open in Singapore on 28 June 2012, sharing the same release date as China.

The movie also stars Zhao Wei 赵薇, Zhou Xun 周迅, Chen Kun 陈坤, Yang Mi 杨幂 and Feng Shaofeng 冯绍峰.
