[Find out how you can stand to win Exclusive Premiums below!]
Syfy’s ground-breaking transmedia event that unites high quality scripted television and online gaming together, launching in Asia on 16 April 2013.
Syfy’s highly-anticipated Defiance will have its series premiere on Tuesday, 10.50pm (StarHub Ch. 526) with a two-hour episode (culminating in a total of 12 episodes/13 hours).
Five years in the making and a budget of US$40 million for the first season, Defiance is Syfy’s biggest and most ambitious undertaking in its 20 year history. One can see the amount of production effort in the series with precise make-up and detailed costuming. The faces of the various aliens are somewhat believable. The set too looked amazing with graphics I thought was well executed.

About Defiance
Set in the near future, Defiance introduces an exotically transformed planet Earth, its landscapes permanently altered following the sudden – and tumultuous – arrival of seven unique alien races. In this somewhat unknown and unpredictable landscape, the richly diverse, newly-formed civilization of humans and aliens must learn to co-exist peacefully. Each week, viewers will follow an immersive character drama set in the boom-town of Defiance, which sits atop the ruins of St. Louis, MO.
The series, produced by Universal Cable Productions, is executive produced by Kevin Murphy (Desperate Housewives, Caprica; Hellcats) & Michael Taylor (Battlestar Galactica). Kevin Murphy serves as showrunner. Scott Stewart (Legion, Priest) directed the pilot; Michael Nankin will serve as supervising producer/director on the series.
My Thoughts (Flora):
To be honest, I am not a fan of sci-fi movies or films that involved unnatural-beings or alien-invasion plots, with the exception of some titles like Spiderman, Transformers, etc. To my surprise, I was pretty impressed with Defiance, especially with the production quality.
Though I can’t reveal much about the plot, all I can say is that I was pulled into the story rather quickly and before I knew it, I was anticipating how it the story unfolded with exciting ups and downs. The characters’ creations were beautifully thought through, with different elements and physical features one can easily differentiate and comprehend.
