In 'Batman v Superman', Bruce Wayne said, "He has the power to wipe out the entire human race, and if we believe there’s even a one percent chance that he is our enemy we have to take it as an absolute certainty."

Produced by 'Guardians of the Galaxy' director James Gunn and directed by David Yarovesky ('The Hive'), 'Brightburn' is like a Superman origin story - except that Superman here isn't the good guy.

A kind of anti-superhero horror film, 'Brightburn' follows adolescent Brandon Breyer who discovers he has superhuman abilities not too dissimilar from Superman - super strength, super speed, indestructible skin, flight, and heat vision.

Bullied in school, Breyer uses his new-found powers against his bullies and terrorizes anyone who steps in his path.

This is one of the most original takes on the Superman mythology since M Night Shyamalan's 'Unbreakable'.

Here's the official synopsis: "What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proved to be something far more sinister? With Brightburn, the visionary filmmaker of Guardians of the Galaxy and Slither presents a startling, subversive take on a radical new genre: superhero horror."

'Brightburn' will release in cinemas here on 23 May 2019.
