Evangeline Lilly and Paul Rudd's characters will be regarded as equals in Ant-Man 3, as revealed by director Peyton Reed.

2018's Ant-Man and the Wasp was the first ever Marvel Cinematic Universe project to feature a female superhero in its title, and Reed is now looking to build on that for the next instalment.  Marvel continued its push toward a more diverse cinematic landscape with Captain Marvel in 2019, with even more female heroes making their big-screen debuts in the years to come.

Perhaps Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne’s next adventure will also have Ant-Man and the Wasp in its name, followed by a subtitle of some kind. The script of the film will be written by Rick and Morty writer Jeff Loveness.

Ant-Man 3 is set to open in cinemas sometime in 2022.
