In collaboration with library@esplanade, mm2 entertainment and Hot Cider Films are pleased to present 新谣2013座谈会 'Xinyao's past, present and future' seminar. Members of the public are encouraged to join the free seminar this coming Sunday to discuss on Xinyao's past, present and future. Find out more about the event after the jump!

  • Xinyao 新谣 (short for 新加坡歌谣) is a local music movement that began in the mid-1980s and continued into the early 90s. 

The seminar will be chaired by Xinyao pioneers (Top photo from left to right) Liang Wern Fook 梁文福 and Roy Loi 黎沸揮, Ocean Butterflies’ managing director Colin Goh and That Girl in Pinafore director Chai Yee Wei 蔡於位.

In spite of the environment that they were in, they pursued their heart regardless of what their head tells them, regardless of the social expectations. Hopefully, this coming of age tale that is based on "Xinyao" can touch and inspire more people to listen to the music in their hearts.
