A supersonic sequel that leaves its predecessor in the dust.

The lovable Blue Blur is back in an enjoyable, high stakes, action-packed sequel! Sonic the Hedgehog 2 continues the events of the first film where Sonic (Ben Schwartz) decides to stay Tom (James Marsden) and Maddie (Tika Sumpter) in Green Hills while Jim Carrey’s Doctor Robotnik finds himself still stuck on the mushroom planet.

It’s not long before the mad scientist escapes and returns to earth with the help of Knuckles the Echidna (Idris Elba), with plans to exact revenge on Sonic and conquer the world by harnessing the power of the Master Emerald. Sonic and his new friend Tails (Colleen O'Shaughnessey) set out on a globe-trotting adventure to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands.

Director Jeff Fowler takes all the best parts of his directorial debut (Schwartz’ mouthy Sonic and Carrey’s unhinged Robotnik) and combines it with wonderful additions (Knuckles and Tails) and more action to make a solid sequel that not only holds up to its predecessor’s success but potentially surpass it as well.

Fans of the video game franchise will appreciate the many Easter eggs present in the film. But no matter if you’re not, they’re still enjoyable additions!

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is far from being "the woooorst~" as Jean Ralphio would say. Quite the opposite, in fact. Be sure to stay for end credits because Sonic will return for more and we can't wait!
